The socio-economic impact of improved cooking

Look at what our clients give us feedbacks for SSM products: “We quantify and report the time saved on gathering firewood for household cooking in our cookstove projects. You can find the details in our project reporting, but on average the time spent is cut in half, saving many hours per week by using an improved cookstove. I traveled around our sites in Kenya again in March and every single time, the household primary cook (almost always female) answered that the time saved was spent on other value adding activities on the farm. These activities included planting crops, tending to livestock, or setting up a small goat business (raising & selling). The X amount of extra hours available per week directly contributed to the household income. And in the households where firewood was purchased instead of gathered, the firewood savings also led to a direct decrease of household expenditure. All visited households had discarded the old 3-stone open fire, or even proudly informed us they had "destroyed it".”
